Kz RS Series

What is RED SPECIAL?

RED SPECIAL is the legendary guitar used by Brian May, guitarist of the British rock band Queen. It is the most famous handmade guitar in the world, and is still used as his main guitar more than 50 years later. K's Guitar Works is the world's most famous handmade guitar, and is still used as the main guitar for over 50 years.

Kz Guitar Works was started in 2001 as a “Red Special Workshop”, and has produced the Brian May Super from 2007 to 2010.

About Kz RS - 4 models to choose from

We offer three models to suit your playing style.

Kz RS Replica

The Kz RS Replica is literally a replica of Brian May's own model. The neck is made of Honduran mahogany, the fingerboard is white oak painted black, and the body is made of seven layers of laminated white oak center core and pine, with 0.6mm thick mahogany veneer on the top, back, and sides.

This model is an exact replica of the original design, design, playing comfort, and sound, all of which are not possible in the usual theory of guitar making.

Kz RS Hybrid

The Kz RS Hybrid is a fusion of KZ's original guitar, the Kz One, and the Red Special. It was born from the desire to create a Red Special that is easy to play.

The “sound and look” of the Red Special is realized with the “playability” of the Kz One. The pickups, bridge, tremolo, controls, design, and sound are all perfectly the same as the Red Special, an “evolution” of the KZ Red Special.

Differences from replica: wood composition, set neck, scale, head angle 10 degrees (replica is about 4 degrees), no zero fret, fret size, fingerboard R, fingerboard width, neck thickness, fingerboard surface painted or not, neck heel design.

Kz RS Hybrid Junior

From 2023, Hybrid Jr will also be produced by Kz Studio.

Hybrid Jr is the junior model of RS Hybrid, which was produced based on the desire to create an easy-to-play Red Special.

The Hybrid Jr. uses a Kahler tremolo. Not only is the arming feel similar to that of the original BM tremolo, but it is also an excellent unit for tuning stability, octave adjustment, and string height adjustment for each string.

In addition, the tremolo can be fixed for convenience when changing strings. If used while fixed, it can also be used for settings without using an arm.

The control layout is the same as the original, but the pickups, switches, volume, and tone pots are mounted on the pickguard. This makes it possible to change the height of the pickups without removing the pickguard, increasing the convenience of adjustment.

Kz RS "GEORGE BURNS" Replica

*Currently, a pickup surround (pickup ring) is installed.

The Kz RS “GEORGE BURNS” Replica was completed with the help of Australian luthier Greg Fryer.

Greg is famous for restoring Brian May's Red Special, and he is also famous for creating the “GEORGE BURNS” replica model that Brian still uses frequently on stage today.

Through the longtime friendship between Greg Fryer and Kz Guitar Works, the Kz RS “GEORGE BURNS” Replica was completed based on the original blueprints and documents provided by Kz Guitar Works.

New Guinea rosewood was used for the wood, and the head shape, internal design, and appearance differ from other RS series models.

The Schaller Lop pegs are used for the pegs, and the BM star inlay on the 5F is a sign of a perfect replica model.
